CLUB PAARD

PAARD sets its sights on the night. CLUB PAARD is the new identity with which PAARD aims to attract both existing and new audiences to the nightlife. With new concepts like the queer dance night Q, the UK bass/hip-hop club night The Spot, the indie dance floor ALT, or the curated CLUB PAARD INVITES, along with established programs like Mama Africa, Richter, or Fiesta Macumba, CLUB PAARD will become a gathering place for discovery, expression, and boldness.

 

With CLUB PAARD, PAARD makes a promise to itself and The Hague: “Every weekend, a wide-ranging, diverse, and challenging nightlife program on the agenda. With its own identity, but still PAARD,” says nightlife programmer Bright Nshuti. “We are going to invest in the nightlife of The Hague.”

CLUB PAARD is focused on a younger audience; the crowd that can be found dancing in the late hours at festivals like Down The Rabbit Hole, Lowlands, or Best Kept Secret. Additionally, PAARD hosts club nights with various partners that cater to specific audiences (K-pop, Dabke Night, Ola Brazil, etc.).

Head of Programming & Marketing Joeri Gordijn states: “PAARD wants to continue to appeal to a younger crowd. For many young people, their first introduction to PAARD will be during a club night. That’s a good thing! At PAARD, you can get dizzy for the first time—from dancing, from the drinks, or from happiness—but at CLUB PAARD, you can also discover who you are or who you want to be.”

In line with The Hague Nightlife Vision, which was presented earlier this summer, PAARD continues to focus heavily on safe clubbing. “Recently, our hospitality staff has completed the Safer Clubbing training, we are introducing a Code of Conduct for CLUB PAARD visitors, and we will be launching a WhatsApp number that can be reached during the nights if people experience unwanted behavior,” says Head of Hospitality Markus Haaxman.

CLUB PAARD INVITES is a major experiment for the venue. Programmer Maria Sanchez says, “I see CLUB PAARD INVITES as a playground for us as PAARD programmers. We invite both promising and established artists, but you can also expect late-night concerts or collaborations with other players from The Hague’s nightlife scene.” CLUB PAARD runs alongside PAARD’s regular program.

In collaboration with Buro Streep, a visual identity has been developed for CLUB PAARD that captures the diversity, intimacy, and mystery of the night, merging them into a single image that can be expressed in many different ways. The artwork translates the thumping basses and hypnotic sounds into a visual that contrasts sharply with PAARD’s square house style.

“Since the 80s, PAARD has hosted clubnights, but it was always more of an add-on. With CLUB PAARD, PAARD is making a clear commitment to The Hague’s night culture,” says PAARD director Majel Blonden.

New Concepts:

Club PAARD INVITES:
Curated club nights, concerts, and back-to-back (b2b) DJ sets. First confirmed acts include LEGOWELT (September 28), Ineffekt b2b TSEPO (November 9), and LEFTO (December 7). Additionally, CLUB PAARD invites other players from The Hague’s nightlife scene for collaborations.

Q:
A soulful queer club night. The first event is on October 11, 2024, featuring Everil Kills, ELIZA, and Laura Meester.

Mulatu Listening Bar:
Late-night listening sessions with selectors. The next edition is on September 29, 2024.

ALT:
An alternative indie dance floor for the future. The first edition is on November 2, 2024.

The SPOT:
UK hip-hop, UK bass, grime, and UK garage. The next edition is on September 14, featuring Race, Eycee, and Jade Soul.

Bad Habits:
Hip-hop, trap, and Amapiano night. The next event is on September 6.

PAARDCAFE:

The PAARDCAFE is open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night with free entry, featuring DJs and concepts such as Indie Gloria, Two Step, Disco Avocadeaux, HAGUEYARD, Jive Club, Boy Boogie & Boudi.
