a balladeer

After winning several prestigious awards (Grote Prijs van Nederland, Zilveren Harp) and ranking in the Dutch Top 2000 it suddenly became awfully quiet around a balladeer. The band from Amsterdam - which, in terms of somes, comes closely with Counting Crows, David Gray and Tom McRae - seemed to have disappeared from the radar.

But good news: with a new album coming (A Wolf At The Door, March 11) a balladeer occurs finally in Paard van Trjoje this fall! After listening to a few new songs we can only conclude that it is time to see this band on stage again; the emotional vocals of singer Marinus de Goederen (soft, with a raw edge) still lends itself perfectly for direct poetry on his part: “See I kept begging you to help me help you, if wishes were horses I would surely ride.” This album is, just like the older work, full of melancholic listening songs to become silent of. In addition to songs from the new album, classics like “Swim With Sam” and “Robin II” aren’t skipped on September 24th. Nice!
