Listening to American Aquarium evokes the sudden urge to go on a road trip through North-America. These five youngsters from North Carolina create beautiful Americana inspired by Ryan Adams, Whiskeytown and Son Volt and are planning to cross the Atlantic to land on European soil.

American Aquarium spends most of its nights outside of their hometown Raleigh: about 300 days a year they hit the long and winding roads of the U.S.A. with an astonishing 1800 concerts as a result. Two years ago, American Aquarium was introduced to the Dutch audience at Blue Highways Festival which gained them a fair share of new fans among which Dolf Jansen. Jansen immediately adopted them and welcomed them at his radio show.

Their latest album ‘Burn,Flicker,Die’ reflects upon the whirlwind of performances, experiences, smoky bars, whiskey and anonymous women they have encountered the past two years. Ex-Drive-By-Trucker Jason Isbell produced the record that combines pure country rock with cleaver sounds. Spooner Oldham, DB’s-Leden Chris Stamey and Wes Lachot, singers Amanda Shires and Caitlin Carey (ex-Ryan Adams) are some of the collaborations established on ‘Burn.Flicker.Die.’.

For those with a weak spot for pedal steels, lingering drums, raw vocals and exciting country side romance with a reference to the Southern States, beatup chevy’s, truck stop coffee and the eternal struggle between booz and the Bible… this is your band!
