Cohen, who emerged in the late 1990s, has been praised for his musical craftsmanship on albums such as his 2003 trio release “The Trumpet Player” and 2007’s expansive “After the Big Rain.” Since 2016, he has made regular recordings ranging from the atmospheric lyricism of “Into the Silence,” “Cross My Palm with Silver” and “Playing the Room” to the psychedelic fusion and funk influences of “Big Vicious.” The fully improvised and meditative “Naked Truth” was released in 2022.

Trumpeter and composer Avishai Cohen is an adventurous and forward-thinking musician who has performed in various ensembles with touches of modern creative jazz, post-bop, avant-garde improvisation and klezmer. Throughout most of the performance, the trumpeter meticulously leads the way, closely followed by his longtime comrades – pianist Yonathan Avishai, bassist Barak Mori and drummer Ziv Ravitz – who share an intuitive understanding, hyper alert to the music’s subtly changing accents.
