BAUER @ PRINS27 (Pre-SXNF night)

Thursday 8 December 2016 2016

‘If there has to be another Bauer album, then it has to be the Bauer album’, was the thought of frontman Berend Dubbe who has been captain of the ship since debut album ‘On the move’ (1999). After the man with the dark bariton voice has been working a lot on different projects in the past ten years, he is back with the band it all started with.

After his Bauer period, Dubbe became a jack of all trades: he composed music for films, worked together with the Metropole Orchestra, sang Sinatra at Dutch travelling festival De Parade, The Beach Boys at the Royal Concertgebouw and became part of the band Bettie Serveert. With the album ‘Eyes Full Open’ a long lasting process has come to an end. The ten songs refer to the classical Hollywood and tv soundtracks, Scott Walker’s orchestral pop and the progressive music from the seventies. Despite its oldschool ingredients, the album sounds modern and fresh. Bringing the studio album to life is going to be a challenge, but as Bauer sings in ‘The Alchemist’, the first single of the album: ‘All will be fine in the long run.’
