CHRISTOF VAN DER VEN

Wednesday 31 October 2018 2018

Not everyone will know Christof van der Ven immediately, but he isn’t a stranger in the scene. What if we told you he is a guest musician of Bear’s Den, and he played on big festivals as Pinkpop, Rock Werchter and Glastonbury, would it ring a bell? The, in Brabant born and raised, indiefolk-artist lives in London for many years already now, and released his debut album last April: ‘Empty Handed’.

You can call the story of Christof a bit wonderful at the least. He left as a young musician to London, dreaming of a job as a fulltime musician. He started playing in bands, in pubs, and decided to move to the city later. When he got discovered by The Staves, The Boxer Rebellion and Bear’s Den, he was invited to perform as support-act. Bear’s Den asked him to join the band in 2016 as a guest-musician, the band he travels the world with as we speak. Christof: ‘’It still feels weird. I share the same ground with artists I’m a fan of, like Father John Misty.’’

Despite the experience Christof has on big stages, he loves to play at intimate, small locations. And which location could me more suitable that the Paardcafé? Exactly, this is perfect.

“ Zijn album staat staat vol met mooie indie-folk songs die beslist in de smaak zal vallen bij fans van Damien Jurado, Fionn Regan, Bon Iver en Bear’s D “
