DORPSSTRAAT 3

The music of Dorpsstraat 3 balances between post-punk and synthwave, but takes inspiration as well from different types of music that come from very different places both geographically and in time and throws it all together.

One sluggish day, some friends walked past the vacant building on Dorpsstraat 3, which houses the old home of the Priest of the village where they grew up. After wandering through the dusty house for a while, they ended up in the basement where, unlike the rest of the house, they didn’t just find what they expected. The basement was full of analog synthesizers, rhythm boxes and a large record collection, among this record collection they found artists like Grauzone, ZZ & de Maskers, Kraftwerk and Erkin Koray.

Inspired by the record collection and the amount of empty bottles of wine in the basement, they wrote a song about the priest in question and named themselves after the building where it all started, Dorpsstraat 3. Sometimes it seems like these influences have always belonged together and sometimes it confuses you and in this way Dorpsstraat 3 tells stories you haven’t heard yet.
