When you put on a record by The Black Angels, close your eyes, and immerse yourself in the psychedelic melodies, you feel like you’re in the 1960s for a moment. Which isn’t surprising, as the band drew inspiration for both their name and their music from the iconic band The Velvet Underground. This year, the quintet celebrates its 20th anniversary, and there’s no stopping them. In 2022, they released the album “Wilderness of Mirrors,” where the connection to The Velvet Underground is clearly evident. Last year, fans were delighted with the single “My Tornado,” featuring The Raveonettes, where you can hear a slightly different sound from the band.

With Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols, you immediately mention the soundtrack of several generations. But the band, founded in 1994, has garnered more successful hits. On the recently released album Rockmaker, you hear the band’s characteristic sound, gritty shoegaze with psychedelic influences. A sound that will always stand the test of time.

Born in San Francisco after the summer of love and before the dawn of disco, Miranda Lee Richards is the daughter of Ted and Terre Richards, stars of the underground comics revolution. She got her early professional start in the Brian Jonestown Massacre, and that led to her subsequent appearance in the seminal documentary DIG!. Upon moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music, Miranda landed a record deal with Virgin Records, who released her debut album, The Herethereafter.
