Gallowstreet, the Amsterdam brass band, released their third album ‘Our Dear Metropolis‘ on March 26th. An instrumental statement about the home base, it’s inhabitants and the dynamics of the changing city. With Our Dear Metropolis, the band is asking about who owns the city. In their new album the men take on the role of an instrumental storyteller and they link their sound that they’ve brought to many festivals with trance, hiphop and big-band swing to create a headwind of explosive and positive sound.
From the Galgenstraat to Amsterdam North, where the band has taken root. With a self-built rehearsal room that they share with their colleagues and friends from Jungle By Night, Gallowstreet is permeated with a DIY mentality, full of innovation. With the albums ‘Battleplan‘ and ‘Hot Lava Sex Machine‘, Gallowstreet is a breath of fresh air within the brass band genre. The band has a quirky interpretation of what you can do with wind instruments.
