GALYA BISENGALIEVA

Tuesday 17 December 2024 2024

Galya Bisengalieva’s music is deep and atmospheric. The Kazakh composer centers unyielding sounds that cross genres such as folk, ambient, classical and electronic music. She made her first two records on her own NOMAD Music Productions, a label founded to promote experimental sounds. In 2020, she released her “Aralkum” on One Little Independent Records. Galya’s focus on broad tonal surfaces suits the album’s subject matter: the Aral Sea and the desolate landscapes created by its catastrophic shrinkage. She will be at Grote Zaal on December 17, 2024.
