Godspeed You! Black Emperor released a series of albums between 1997 and 2002 that redefined the concept of protest music. Their long, instrumental compositions reflect the alienation and resistance of late capitalism. Notably, F#A#∞ (1997) and Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven (2000) are regarded as classics within the Post-Rock genre. The legendary live shows, featuring multiple 16mm projectors and analog film collages, along with the iconic album artwork, amplify the band’s unique ethos. In their 25-year existence, they have only released two band photos and given very few interviews. The band has never had a website, social media presence, or made any music videos.
After a seven-year hiatus, their reunion period began in 2010, marked by hundreds of sold-out shows and four new albums, all widely acclaimed.
