Herst Fest was started in 2016 by drummer Koen Herfst, as a joke about his name. The festival has now grown into the largest drum festival in the Benelux! Koen was voted Best Hardrock/Metal drummer in the Benelux six years in a row. After seven editions, the festival is now expanding, with an extra day in Antwerp.
He is one of the headliners at this double festival! From our review of Benny Greb’s clinic on the Slagwerkkrant Podium near Drumland in 2019: ‘The crowded hall in Lijnden is delighted with the stories and especially the grooves of this world drummer, who manages to extract an unimaginable amount of sound and feel from his simple acoustic set. Benny Greb focuses on musical effect with an undulating groove. Moreover, he has the necessary stand-up qualities, and there is nothing wrong with the timing in his jokes. And if it stalls for a while, you can always throw in a bassist joke.

You must have seen this man perform with Netsky, or solo as a one-man-band #DJDrummer on his Roland V-drums, which he co-developed himself. On Drumeo he released the “Electrify Your Drumming” educational pack. Since 2021, he is also one of the 10 weekly streaming international #DrumeoCoaches artists.
Teacher of drums and pedagogy at the Kunsthumaniora Brussels and one of Belgium’s leading session musicians: at the age of 21 he plays Jesus Christ Superstar and afterwards many classical music, film scores, TV series and commercials. Live he accompanies the most diverse well-known artists such as Urbanus. He plays in the Freddie Mercury tribute band Mercury Rising and with Made in Purple.
At the age of 12, Maurits was accepted at the Havo for Music and Dance, followed by Codarts, where he recently graduated with a special subject.
Graduated from Codarts in 2013 and immediately started playing as a session musician with many different acts. He also plays with Bo Saris, Rilan & the Bombardiers, Nona and Lisa Loïs. In his clinic, fun, technique and musicality are central, so that you can enjoy drumming for as long as possible!
He has been playing drums since childhood. He is studying at an MBO music education in Amsterdam. In the clinic at Autumn Fest he will show the most beautiful elements of musical music!
With her program Polle De Pinguïn, Femke Krone will provide the HerfstFest Kids workshop in The Hague. With stories she takes children on all kinds of adventures with accompanying emotions. The Polle de Penguin song is sung, danced and played with percussion instruments, singing and dancing. Femke takes 4 to 8 year olds along in the adventures of Polle the Penguin.
Last year he was a drummer on the HerfstFest stage with a great masterclass. He will return this year, but as host of both editions of HerfstFest Drum Festival 2022. Give it up for ZEP!
Koen Herfst is one of the most energetic and versatile drummers of The Netherlands. He is known for his work with Armin van Buuren, with whom he did two world tours in venues like Madison Square Garden (New York) and The Forum (LA). Another highlight withArmin was coming down from the ceiling of the Amsterdam Arena (Ajax stadium) with his drumkit. Koen is also one of the organisers of Herfstfest!
Drum Demons is the percussion group of the well-known drummers Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring, Sloper) and Koen Herfst (a.o. Armin van Buuren and Vandenberg) together with other top drummers and vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Harrison Young. Different every time, from special act to full set, every time with a lot of drum violence on fat dance beats and catchy tracks!
