In the run-up to our 50-year anniversary in 2022, Paard chooses 50 iconic artists, out of the complete program, that we see as ‘Heroes’. With this label we put artists that have played an important role in pop history in the spotlights, and place them in music-historical perspective. Read the bizarre trivia, the anecdotes, the personal stories and why especially these artists plays in The Hague.

‘Invitation to the sound of Jerney Kaagman and Earth&Fire’  is a must see & hear rocktheatreconcert and documentary about the songmaterial of The Hague’s band Earth&Fire. Founders of the band Chris and Gerard Koerts and Dutch singer Jerney Kaagman’s authentic voice, texts and complex melodies are cultural heritage. Music made by Earth&Fire is still an inspiration for bands nowadays.

Besides a rocktheaterconcert, the show is also a tribute to Jerney Kaagman. One of the first leadsingers in Dutch pop/rockmusic. Singer Marieke Eelman, who you might know from the band ‘Nilsson’, plays hits as ‘Memories’, ‘Invitation’, ‘Maybe Tomorrow Maybe Tonight’ and ‘Storm & Thunder’ live with her band and lets poprocksongs from the 70’s-75’s relive.

 

The documentary shown during the concert, contains recent interviews with the original band members, unique imagery from Kaagman and the Koerts brothers’ private scrapbooks, fluid projections used by Earth&Fire, videoprojections by students of the Graphic Lyceum in Utrecht and original band clips.

 

The rocktheatreconcert toured successfully along multiple theatres in 2017, in 2018 the show strikes down once again in hometown The Hague in Paard for one last time. This final night is guaranteed to be special: our guest star,  Eart&Fire founder and guitarist Chris Koerts will travel from France to the Netherlands to join us! He will be on stage with Earth&Fire songmaterial for the first time since 1980.
