Airhorns up! HINK brings you the most danceable, rhythmic tropical bass. Think moombahton, tropical house, dancehall, cumbia, kuduro, dubstep and electro mashups. Not only dance your ass off, but you can also absorb some culture! Two birds with one stone, so to speak. With Branko from Buraka Som Sistema, a DJ set of Spoek Mathambo and Gnucci and Dagga D’Agga DJ crew.
HINK is a series of cutting-edge concerts; from exciting electronic acts to mindblowing avant-rock. A concept following the example of State-X New Forms Festival.
Branko (formerly J-Wow) is the driving force and one of the main producers in Buraka Som Sistema. The Lisbon group released their debut album -Black Diamond- in November 2008 to rave reviews and acclaim from a who is who of relevant producers, and continued to make waves with sophomore album -Komba- in 2011. As a diagnosed workaholic, when Branko is not touring or in the studio with Buraka, he is either scouting for new music for his Enchufada label or making beats by himself.
Spoek Mathambo is the name of South African musician (Singer-Rapper-Producer-DJ) that stands at the vanguard of a new wave of African artists, Spoek is hitting the world hard with his take on Afro-futurism. His unique vision on electronic music, infuses futurism with a strong sense of pride in where he comes from. It is clearly African music, but like none that has ever been heard or made before.
Gnucci (Gnucci Banana) is a chick with balls or as she personaly decribes her style ‘Pussy Power Rap’ and ‘Clit spit’. Her no non-sence attitude comes in handy during her collaboration with Spoek Mathambo and she perfectly fits within the scene. This girl certainly knows how to stand her ground!
Dagga D’agga is a 2 friend DJ crew, bonded by a mutual love of what it considers World Ghetto Beats; moombahton, tropical house, dancehall, cumbia, kuduro, dubstep and electro mashups, also going under the name of tropical bass. Having rocked parties and festivals like Loos, Rauw, Rewire, Shoot Me, State-X and Sziget, organizing their regular World Ghetto Beats nights at a number of venues and hosting a bi-weekly show at radio Tonka, they’ve kept themselves busy for the last two years but are always ready for some more mayhem.
From township to yard, Favela to Vogelaarwijk, les Banlieus to the Projects… they are the Dagga Dagga crew. Airhorns up!
