Besides releasing his own music, he also is much asked by other artists to collaborate with. He collaborated with huge artists, among others Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp a Butterfly), John Legend (Darkness and Light), Run the Jewels (Thursday in the Danger Room) en Ibeyi (Deathless).
His album ‘The Epic’ was praised and awarded with countless ‘best of’-awards, among which ‘The Inaugural American Music Prize’ and the Gilles Peterson Wordwide-album of the year (2016).
After the much awarded ‘The Epic’ the American saxophonist released a six-track EP in 2017 called ‘Harmony Of Difference’. The Belgium De Morgen says: ‘’This six-parted suite sells big in cosmic bigbandjazz like the saxophonist triumphed on his three hour long The Epic, the album which caused his huge breakthrough two years ago – not only in jazz but also in indie music’’.
A fun-fact is that the EP ‘’Harmony of Difference’’ comes from a stand-alone multimedia-installation which was presented during the prestigious Biënnale 2017 in the Withney Museum of American Art in New York City. This ‘’Harmony Of Difference EP’’ is making us already curious about the follow up EP.
His attraction keeps on growing for young and for old, for the pure jazz-lover and for the festival-visitor. He has tourstops at huge festivals as Coachella, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, Bonnaroo and Primavera. And of course, we can’t wait for him to drop his second album the 22nd of June.
