Thursday 28 November 2019 2019

The Dutch symphonic rockband Knight Area will perform at PAARD on November 28th. The band is the standard-bearer of the neo-progressive genre ever since it was founded. They are back with their heavy guitars, flowing synths and thunderous rythm wih their newest album Blood on the Risers. In the past Knight Area has worked together with Charlotte Wessels (Delain) and Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One, The Gentle Storm).  Which started in 2004 as a soloproject of pianist and composer Gerban Klazinga, has grown out to be a close band, with Peter Vink from Q65 and Finch playing bass.

Blood on the Risers
Be careful with how we live now, that’s the most important message on the new album D-Day. In 10 songs and an opening speech they tell the story of D-Day and the battle in Normandy, as the beginning of the liberation. The members of Knight Area went to Omaha Beach to record the music video of the first single off the album, where the first invasion happened on June 6th 1944. “When you walk on the beach you get goosebumps immediately and start to tear up“, says the drummer Pieter van Hoorn, who’s visited the place more often. “What happened there brings up all kinds of emotions, from the deepest misery to the largest feelings of glory. You can hear those emotions in our music.”
