Her fascination for Hollywood classics has maintained. After Lilian Haks 2010 concept album, based on the golden age of Hollywood, she now concentrates on spaghetti westerns. Especially the bravoury, melancholy and suspence of the great director Sergio Leone and composer Ennio Morricone have her interest. Wide screen emotions with an equally big sound scape.

On ‘Lust Guns & Dust’ the predecessor of her last album ‘Old Powder New Guns’ trembling guitars are heared as if they are the dusty, galopping kettledrums in a wild goose chase and a longing feminine voice soothed by spanish guitars and a sweet male choir.

Hak has captured its essence and translated it in a contemporary version of traditional popsongs produced by Hak herself. She takes the cliches and the associations with the genre and makes it into her own sound, only few elements can be traced back to its origin.

As Jean Luc Godard stated: ‘All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun’.
