Inspired by pre-war blues and traditional jazz, the in New Orleans based (because: where else?) Luke Winslow-King keeps the soul of Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson and other early-blues heroes alive. He shared a stage with among others Pokey LaFarge, Jack White, Taj Mahal and the Rebirth Brass Band.
Winslow-King is the undisputed ambassador of New Orleans’ rich and colourful culture. The in Cadillac, Michigan raised songwriter studied in the city but when his band’s bus was plundered, he got ‘stuck’ in the city of the jazz and deltablues. It is his home ever since and the rest of the world is his stage.
Blue Mesa
On his new album ‘Blue Mesa’ you can hear the trusted sound of country, blues and folk, but even more accessible – which will make, without a doubt – even more people fan. And no, this doesn’t mean the tradition has to end. New Orleans is still running though his vains. As we are used to, he expresses himself on this personal EP. An artist that proves his royal title once again.
