Hontelé: “There is not one type of mambo, but a world of mambo variations and new contemporary crossovers. In these, changing Latin grooves and jazz improvisations work together perfectly. This offers both the NJJO and the audience a wide range of musical possibilities: depth and joy guaranteed! The repertoire also has a connection to my previous albums or consists of pieces specially written for the NJJO. The trumpeter/bandleader and multiple Grammy Award nominee MAITE HONTELÉ is the new artistic director, inspirer, coach, and soloist of the 20-member super-talented orchestra NJJO. Hontelé has personally designed and assembled the eighth formation! The NJJO is being prepared in a unique two-year coaching program to embark on tours with MAITE HONTELÉ’S NJJO GOES MAMBO, first in the Netherlands and then internationally in 2024.
