The theme of farewell, hope and expectation emanates throughout the lyrics, sound, melancholy and passionate climb towards musical summits. This album is dynamic and full of emotion, taking the listener through a whirlwind series of narratives. The band was in excellent form during recording with producer Reyn Ouwehand in his studio, The Church, but the past two years are proof that the band knows how to impress from the stage as well. With this new album Mister and Mississippi will be putting together a powerful live show that will undoubtedly inspire their audiences once again.
In their early twenties, the foursome became acquainted with the spotlights through their support shows for Blaudzun and Patrick Watson. The band quickly won the hearts of V2 Records as well as those of indie and folk music-lovers in the realms of Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Sigur Rós. Two years on, their mantelpiece in Utrecht is decorated with various awards and prizes, most notably a Mega Hit, 3FM Award and an Edison Award. Other crowning moments for the band include their sold-out show at Tivoli Oudegracht (the holy grail for every musician in Utrecht) and the overwhelming response they received at their Lowlands show. Memories from the past provide inspiration for new beginnings.
