The love Piet Mondriaan had for jazz, translating into an international music festival, is that even possible? For sure it is! MJAZZ’s line-up is full of great names, but also gives upcoming jazz artists around the world a stage to perform.
The infamous New York jazzscene is a central point of attention for the festival, especially because Mondriaan got a lot of inspiration out of all the subcultures New York has.
At MJAZZ saxophonist Ravi Coltrane will bring a unique and one time performance playing songs from Canto Ostinato, but also artist like Nate Smith KINFOLKS, Evan Marien x Dan Hawkins and soul talent Rohey will be seen at the festival. Also international artists bring their talents to the Hague, think about FORQ, Jaimo Brown Transence, Mamal Hands, Jamire Williams and indian singer Ganavya Doraiswamy. She comes together with Pianohooligan, a young Polish pianist who is considered to be the greatest talent of the new generation, and then attracted several awards (such as the 1st prize Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition). Moonchild and local pianist Rembrandt Frerichs complete the line-up.
Next to all the great music you can find an interesting side program, with the documentary ‘Chasing Train: The John Coltrane Documentary’ and with your festival ticket you can get free acces to het Gemeentemuseum with Mondriaan’s vinyl collection.
Cooperation with Good Music Company and PAARD with support from the Gemeente Den Haag and multiple funds.
