Having worked alongside revered artists as diverse as Peter Gabriel, Nitin Sawhney, Nigel Kennedy, Belinda Carlisle and Jean-Michel Jarre to name just a few, Natacha Atlas has gained a wealth of experience in collaborations, that have enhanced the art that both she and her fellow musicians continue to create. Most recently, Natacha has been working with the likes of Omar Sosa and Paolo Fresu, whilst co-composing (with frequent collaborator Samy Bishai) the score for Herve Koubi’s 2019 contemporary dance creation ‘Odyssey’. The forthcoming single Words Of A King features the multi-platinum selling vocalist Joss Stone – yet another glowing endorsement and testament to the multi-faceted nature of Atlas’ work.
The gifts and ability of Natacha Atlas as an artist have led to a range of honors, including a ‘Victoire’ Award delivered by the French Ministry Of Culture to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry and a BBC World Music Award endorsing the best global music artists of the year. Her vocals have also appeared on the scores and soundtracks of numerous Hollywood blockbusters, incl. Sex & the City 2, The Hulk, Kingdom of Heaven, Brick Lane and Sahara.
Strange Days will be released on Whirlwind Recordings, an adventurous and visceral label run by fellow musician and celebrated bass player Michael Janisch. This new project demonstrates their keen eye for identifying innate talent and enhances their quest to release material that is bursting with power and quality.
Already being hailed within the industry as a game changer in its pioneering marriage of jazz and the mystique of Arabic vocals, Strange Days is a darkly dystopian Arabic- infused jazz fantasy, the album evokes and emotes in equal measure, presenting one of the world’s most distinguished vocalists at her captivating finest.
This concert is a collaboration with ProJazz.
