If a band deseves to be referenced as „unique“, the US ProgRock phenomen Pavlov's Dog fits the bill. Founded in 1973 by David Surkamp and former Chuck Berry drummer Mike Safron, it's David's incredible vocal performance that brands the singularity of Pavlov's Dog. When Pavlov’s Dog signed its initial recording contract with ABC in 1974 for the unheard figure of $ 500.000,- they were the highest signed newcomer band ever since. After a long period of silence, the band is finally back on stage.Pavlov's Dog's 1975 debut album Pampered Menial is a milestone in Rock History and was voted by Mojo Magazine into the Top 100 of the most important Prog-Rock releases of all time. An extraordinary lineup (with violin, piano & mellotron) ties up with David Surkamp's hightuned falsetto voice – a highly affecting sound like coming from another world. Members of Yes, King Crimson, Roxy Music a.o. contributed to their 2nd album At The Sound Of The Bell. After their final moment of breakthrough failed, the band split during the recording of their third album in 1977. Rumors continued to swirl around. Some said David Surkamp took his own life as a suicide, others he died after helium inhalation. In 2004 Pavlov’s Dog came together for a 30th anniversary concert. Since then Pavlov's Dog toured many countries, culminating in a breathtaking performance at the Arrowrock Festival in Holland in front of 54.000 listeners. No wonder that we are thrilled to have this legendary band at our stage!
