It’s an unlikely story… a rising Rugby football star gets so badly injured that he has to leave his sport behind. He picks up an acoustic guitar, teaches himself how to play it and records an indie CD that he sells after shows from the back of his Kombi Van.
His debut album, the roots/rock infused ‘Feeler’ (2003), snowballs through old-fashioned word of mouth and sell out shows until a year later he becomes Australia’s most popular singer/songwriter. ‘Feeler’ goes on to sell 6 x platinum in Australia (450,000 copies) and earns 12 ARIA Award nominations (i.e. Australian Grammies).
To celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of the release of Pete’s definitive debut album ‘Feeler’, on November 15th, 2013, Pete Murray re-released this definitive album as a special Feeler – 10 Year Anniversary Edition, re-mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. It also includes 12 bonus tracks featuring the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra performing Feeler in full, mixed with original album masters. In June 2014 Pete Murray brings his 10 Year Anniversary Feeler tour to the UK and Holland for just one week of shows to relive the magic of this classic album.
Support act will be The Hague-born singer Tim Akkerman. Known as former lead singer of Di-rect, the Dutchman is now building a career on his own and will release his second album ‘The Journey’ in April. He’ll play an acoustic set for us tonight.
