Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Tek and Steele formed the rap duo Smif-N-Wessun, first appearing on Black Moon’s debut album “Enta Da Stage” in 1993. With their relentless rhymes, they laid the foundation for the rise of the rap group Boot Camp Clik. Two years later, they released their own work in the form of “Da Shinin,” with hit singles such as “Bucktown” and “Sound Bwoy Bureill. With their classic ’90s hip-hop sound, they remain capable of setting any venue ablaze even after 30 years. On Sept. 16, 2024, these hip-hop icons will be at PAARD!

Smif-N-Wessun released their classic debut “Dah Shinin’” on Nervous Records on Jan. 10, 1995. Known for its hardcore lyrical content and gritty production, handled by Da Beatminerz’s production crew, the album was selected as one of The Source’s 100 best rap albums of all time.

In late 2005, they reactivated their original moniker and released “Smif-N-Wessun: Reloaded,” followed by “Smif-N-Wessun: The Album” two years later. In 2011, they collaborated with hip-hop legend Pete Rock on the album “Monumental,” with guest contributions from Styles P, Memphis Bleek, Raekwon, Bun B and others. In late 2013, they reverted to their reggae influences for the EP “Born and Raised” with contributions from Jahdan Blakkamoore, Junior Kelly, Junior Reid and others.

Slay Jones is the product of his Surinamese parents and the streets of The Hague, where he discovered his passion for hip-hop. Inspired by legends like DMX, Nas and 50 Cent, he started writing his own lyrics at a young age, infused with raw emotions and street wisdom. His big break came on 11 October 2015, when he joined Xzibit and Bishop Lamont on stage during Loose Cannon’s Europe Tour at the Burgerweeshuis in Deventer. The support act will be provided by H3C.
