STATE-X NEW FORMS: GLENN BRANCA (THE ASCENSION REVISITED)

Glenn Branca Ensemble (US)Avant-garde composer and guitarist Glenn Branca composed a series of guitar symphonies in the 1980s. At State-X New Forms, Branca and six guitarists will perform a sequel to his renowned The Ascension (1981). The concert is presented by State-X and Dag in de Branding, festival for New Music.Jad Fair (US) & Gilles Rieder (CH)Jad Fair, his brother David Fair and others, founded lo-fi cult-noise rock band Half Japanese in 1974. Since the early nineties Jad Fair releases solo material, working together with a.o. Daniel Johnston, Yo La Tengo, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) and Moe Tucker (Velvet Underground).Yuri Landman Ensemble (NL) feat. Jad Fair (US) Musician and inventor of musical instruments Yuri Landman has built instruments for Liars, Sonic Youth, Half Japanese, dEUS and Melt Banana, among many others. During State-X New Forms Yuri Landman will do a performance together with his ensemble of fifteen musicians and Jad Fair.
