SYMPHONIC JUNCTION XL: SUPERSISTER PROJEKT x RESIDENTIE ORKEST IN AMARE

Thursday 8 February 2024 2024

Note: This show is in Amare

When you say The Hague, you say underground. Fifty years ago, a group of students from Grotius Lyceum decided to immerse themselves in the experimental vibe that hung in the air. The wide development of Supersister is therefore intricately linked to the evolution of The Hague as a music city. Consequently, the group was one of the first to perform at the newly established Paard van Troje in 1972. Later on, musical leader Robert Jan Stips collaborated with artists such as Golden Earring, Sweet d’Buster, Gruppo Sportivo, Freek de Jonge, and, of course, NITS. On February 8, 2024, significant portions of this remarkable story will be heard in PAARD, thanks to a special request from the music temple, featuring the Residentie Orkest conducted by Hans Leenders!

From The Hague schoolboys to psychedelic rock stars, the The Hague-based band Supersister has been making music history in the city since 1968. Think progressive pop, jazz influences, groovy riffs, and the occasional humorous Zappa twist. Tonight, together with the current lineup of this legendary band, we not only bring back Dutch Woodstock vibes to Amare, but we also trace the evolution of Supersister’s music through original and newly composed orchestral arrangements, created specifically for this occasion.
