They describe their sound as a mix between straightforward heavy metal, ambitious prog rock and classic rock. Fans of hard and fast guitar riffs that fluently follow each other up, heavy drums and subtle keyboard sounds that have additional value can sleep peacefully again.

The mix of heavy metal progressive rock and neo-classical sounds have defined who Symphony X are since the release of their debut album in 1995. Eighteen years and several albums later they are going to hop the ocean to come and break down the stage in Paard van Troje.

Where one  album is decribed as the darkest and most gothic-like, the other is said to be their hardest and most thrashing album, and yet another one has obvious influences from classical music. The first time you listen to the latest album by Symphony X, titled Iconoclaust, you probably won’t immediately like it. After a few listens, more and more elements in the music start to come to the surface to be noticed. This was the intention; Symphony X has tried to create a multi-faceted and profound album that gives pleasure to their fans for a long time.
