I feel, wo ho, woo: the alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols is coming to Paard van Troje! With ‘Bohemian Like You’ on its name, the American band has made one of the most famous and catchy hits of the alternative genre. But this group has more to offer than just that song used by Vodafone and Fifa.
The sound of Dandy Warhols varies from psychedelic guitar songs to shorter pop-orientated songs: it seems like The Kinks, The Who and The Velvet Underground stood up in the 90s. What remains in the music is the relaxing character which you can always count on – thanks to the sound of the voice from the singer Courtney Taylor Taylor.
David Bowie fan
Whether you prefer shoegaze with slowly, rakish sounds or catchy powerpop, a visit to a The Dandy Warhols-concert is always worth the effort: this is one of the rare bands that’s better live than on cd. You don’t believe it? Well, believe David Bowie. Bowie was so impressed that he asked the band as support act for his tour after a Warhols-show at Glastonbury.
In 2016 ‘The Dandys’ released a new album ‘Distortland’. “As long as they will make this kind of songs, it won’t be necessary for the 48 years old Taylor-Taylor to retire,” considered the website Muzine. With old time favourites and these new songs, this could become a legendary night.
Telegram
Telegram are as special as a message from the one you love. Their music whips up an all-new gumbo out of glam and Kraut influences. At times, they’ll remind you of Eno’s weird pop, at others they’ll trance out on a Can-ish locked groove.
Afterparty:
DJ Rescue (Zia from The Dandy Warhols) will continu the party in De Zwarte Ruiter (Grote Markt). More info here.
