Are you curious about what the Netherlands will look like in 2050 and do you want to have a say in this? The SER Youth Platform and the State Committee on Demographic Developments 2050 invite you to the meeting ‘The Future is Ours’ on 12 May 2023. This is the time to share your ideas about the future of the Netherlands and make your voice heard. Together with a large group of young people, you will discuss the opportunities and challenges that await us.

How do we deal with the changing population of the Netherlands? This will grow in the coming years, and with more elderly people grayer, but also more diverse in composition. What does this mean for the education you receive? How will healthcare change and what types of jobs will be available? And what does this different composition mean for the organization of our country? Where will we live and what will the social cohesion of the Netherlands look like?

Under the leadership of chairman Tom Jessen, we think together about the most important issues in the Netherlands. We are curious about all the new ideas and insights! State committee chairman Richard van Zwol will provide a fascinating opening and SER chairman Kim Putters will round off the event in an inspiring manner. During the break-out sessions, we invite you to share and discuss your vision of the future of the Netherlands with other participants. You can also enjoy the humor of comedian Boban Benjamin Braspenning and a live performance by Sophie Straat.

For whom? Are you between 16 and 30 years old and do you want to think about the future of the Netherlands? Then take part in ‘The Future is Ours’ on May 12, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm at concerthall PAARD in The Hague. We look forward to gaining new ideas and insights with you. Your vote counts and your ideas are included in the advice that the State Commission offers to the government and the House of Representatives.
