THE SECRET SISTERS

Wednesday 4 April 2018 2018

Beautiful harmonies, country tunes and most of all happy songs, that’s the best way to describe The Secret Sisters. These Sisters from Alabama have had quit the ‘bumpy road’, but now they are back, stronger than ever. The first album from Laura & Lydia dates back from 2010 and is full of covers of Sinatra, Nancy Baron and others. The songs are made in a way that they create butterflies in your stomach, and it are the kind of songs that make you want to stand up and start dancing right away.

Their second album, which released on Republic Universal Records, landed on number 18 in the Country Charges, but this wasn’t enough for the label to continue. Republic universal dropped the sisters and a hard and difficult period followed. They almost filed for bankruptcy and they had to start all over from the beginning. From touring with Bob Dylan to losing your label is something that really affects you.

Luckily this didn’t withheld these ladies from making music. ‘’passion and pure artistry can be the strongest sort of salvation – how art is left, like perfect grains of sand, when everything else has washed away’’. They are back with their new album ‘’you Don’t Own Me Anymore’’ and it’s a beautiful album full of honesty, anger, but most of all happiness. These sisters are all set to go back on tour and luckily they will also perform their new songs in Paard.

“ there’s no denying the fact that it’s a vocal masterpiece, showing off all kinds of crazy chords and harmonies and just being generally impressive “
