The Unthanks

This concert is seated.Sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank have always done things their own way. In the decade between their acclaimed debutCruel Sister and their eighth record Mount the Air (which won Best Album at this year's BBC Folk Awards), they have toured Africa with Damon Albarn, been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and embarked on a series of highly praised collaborations with everyone from The Voice Squad to Orbital and Sting. Live, their repertoire embraces artists as diverse as Robert Wyatt, Tom Waits and Nick Drake, as well as the folk songs of their native Tyneside, while their distinctive voices, backed by a full band, infuse each song with a captivating sensuality.
