THE WOMBATS

Sunday 8 November 2015 2015

Support: Kid AstrayThe Wombats are a three piece band from Liverpool, performing shimmering, high-speed indie pop. Born in the bustle of the local music scene, they comprise two native Liverpudlians; front man Matthew Murphy, provider of voice, guitar and keyboards and drummer, b - vocalist Dan Haggis while Bass lines and additional vocal ammo are provided by Tord Overland-Knudsen, a Viking who has made his home in the city. A new album brings the boys back the the Low Lands. ‘Glitterbug’ contains more synths and anthems and sounds bigger and more mature than A Guide To Love, Loss & Desparation (2007) and This Modern Glitch (2011). Nevertheless, The Wombats stay their playful selfs and offer an evening of guarateed dancing and smiling from ear to ear.Ultimately, it's this kind of life-is-short pop energy, imbued with Murphy's well-curated sense of time and place, that helps elevate the Wombats' Glitterbug from just a one-crazy-night soundtrack to an album that might stick with you for years to come. – All Music GuideKid AstrayThe evening wouldn't be complete without a fitting support and tonight you'll get warmed up with the Scandinavian Kid Astray. This motley crew of six friends (including a former junior golf champion, Italian Vogue model and piano prodigy), all in their late teens and early twenties, knock out day-glo, indie-tinged dance-pop with the effortless ease of musicians with pure pop running through their veins.
