The Netherlands have met and been acquainted with South African popmusic before, for example with Die Antwoord and indeed Jack Parow. Parow has already hit the Pinkpop stage while cursing, shouting and rapping, and has had the X-Ray-marquee overheat and overflow. Biettereinder and Van Coke Kartel are set out to prove that South African popmusic offers more than these two best known artists.

Bittereinder is well known for their socially-critical raps, wrapped and delivered in live elektro and dubstep beats. They have paid a visit to our country before: in 2011 they performed at Lowlands. During the upcoming tour of the Netherlands they will bring completely new material to the stage which has been released on their album ‘De Dinkdansmasjien’ in November 2012. Van Coke Kartel will blow you away with no-nonsense rock and an energetic live performance. The quartet arose from the popular band ‘Fokofpolisiekar’, who brought renewal to the mostly English South African popmusic by singing in Afrikaans. They were the first band to reach the official playlist of a popular national radiostation with an Afrikaanse song, paving the road for other South African musicians, who partly due to this score hits abroad as well. They have had no less than 12 number 1 chart positions, not to mention the eight awards they have on their name, of which Best Live Act and Best Rock Album.

Jack Parow will present not only himself, but also the other great talents from the far South so you’re able to not only update your music knowledge, but also your South African vocabulary.
