WHITE LIES [SOLD OUT]

Sunday 21 April 2019 2019

Clearly inspired by bands like Joy Division and Teardrop Explodes, White Lies climbs directly to the top of the British indie scene around 2009. From the debut album ‘To Lose My Life’, the trio guarantees catchy pop songs with a dark edge – a sound that is hugely popular with the general public at festivals such as Rock Werchter, Pinkpop and Glastonbury. Just go with it: with achievements such as ‘Death’, ‘Farewell To The Fairground’, ‘Bigger Than Us’ and ‘Big TV’ the band has now built up a nice resume, where compelling anthems with a high sing-along level show off.

The melancholy vocals of Harry McVeigh are probably the most appealing factor, but also the sinister bass lines, the sonorous drumming of drums and those typical 80s synths are for lovers of the genre a real treat for the ears.

NEW ALBUM
The British post-punk group has announced the release of their new album. ‘Five’ that will appear in February 2019, but the first three singles ‘Time To Give’, ‘Believe It’ and ‘Finish Line’ are ready to listen! ‘Time To Give’ was immediately well received throughout the Netherlands and thus had the NPO Radio 2 Topsong. “Five marks our decade as a band, it has made us expand our sound and reach a new territory artistically, the start of a new and exciting chapter,” says the band. The new album appears exactly 10 years after their debut album ‘To Lose My Life’.

Support: Ten Times A Million

To support White Lies the promising band Ten Times A Million is coming to PAARD. The band used to play as Mandrake’s Monster and has already played over 300 shows throughout Europe (including an aftershow for no-one less than Red Hot Chili Peppers). They are obviously influenced by bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys but unmistakably know how to generate their own sound that links whispering cinematic atmospheres to euphoric indulgences. With a selection for Popronde 2018 and a collaboration with producer Julian Emery (Gavin DeGraw and Nothing But Thieves) Ten Times A Million is ready to conquer the world of music.

“ “White Lies koppelen eerlijkheid aan stadion-anthems en zijn daarmee een soort Simple Minds voor dit moment.”  “
