WOVENHAND

Wednesday 4 June 2014 2014

Support: Christine Owman.Wovenhand is the solo project of parson’s son and former frontman of 16 Horsepower, David Eugene Edwards. When the band went on an hiatus in 2001, David wasn’t ready to leave the music scene behind, and thus released new music under the alias of Wovenhand every two years. This spring he’ll release his seventh album, ‘Refractory Obdurate’, and will perform his extraordinary mix of folk, gospel and bluegrass in Paard van Troje.

His last record, ‘The Laughing Stalk’(2012), was an intense album which sounded harder and more full of pain then ever. This while his in 2010 released ‘The Treshingfloor’ had a remarkably light sound. There even was room for some bliss, albeit in a fragile dose. Which sound he’ll adapt on his new record is still a mystery, however there is no doubt that it will have a significant David Eugene Edwards-stamp on it.

Support act tonight is the Swedish Christine Owman. Her breakthrough album ‘Throwing Knives’ led to shows worldwide and a recording contract. Christine produces her own material, a blend of dreamy folk and raw distortion. Mark Lanegan is already a fan: he appears on her newest album ‘Little Beast’.
